Great-Grandpa Fussy and the Little Puckerdoodles
"Twenty-one brief and chuckle-filled stories are packed into this 'family
read-aloud book,' written by a great-grandfather who has generations of experience in the parenting field. The tales tell of the impish Puckerdoodles:
Teenie, Weenie, Waddles and baby Toodlebug. Kids will enjoy the antics and illustrations as Williams captures the magic of childhood wonder-learning to spit
watermelon seeds, falling in love with a first puppy, selecting ice cream at the
local parlor. The story of a crabby toddler who gets up on the wrong side of the
bed is guaranteed to elicit big grins. An excellent pick for parents to read aloud, young readers ages 7 to 10 also will enjoy saying the very words in these
stories-marshmallows, Britches the dog, kazoo, six-shooters, Ma and Pa Fuddyduddy and the children's silly names. Williams has a true talent for language,

I Wanna Be Purrfect By Diane Corrado The rousing, Broadway-Show-tune flavored music of I WANNA BE PUR-R-R-FECT (SHOW CAT) frames witty lyrics, listing the trade-offs of breeding cats for the star-studded world of “showing” cats. The atmosphere that surrounds this rarified world further exacerbates the classic air of glorified entitlement displayed by these Aristo-cats. And what better era to place our feline stars, than one is which unselfconscious wealth and ostentatious display of such was de rigueur. No, not today, but the 1920's: Heyday of mansions manned by bevies of servants, all with British accents. At least in the movies, a butler, a chauffeur, and phalanxes of maids, cooks and gardeners scuttled through every household. And when it comes to visually depicting lyrics, reflecting the spirit of our subjects, there is a regal disregard of the letter-of-the-lyric! For example, the incredible completely Tailless Manx is pictured as a trio of Vaudeville hoofers, dutifully dressed in top hat and, you guessed it, tails! Each page depicts a single line of lyric and simultaneously showcases a single breed. The levity of the illustration is balanced on the opposing page with a cat fact entry highlighting interesting details about that particular breed. With the sheet music in hand, singing along with the CD, laughing at the imagery and learning about the different breeds of cats, it all adds up to a foot-tapping experience both entertaining and educational.

The Purple Porpoise Preserves the Planet with a "P" By Jim Peluso In this delightfully written tale, which is completely set to rhyme, a young boy enters into a dream on a hot and hazy summer afternoon. He finds himself at an aquatic entertainment show where numerous porpoises are performing. Suddenly, he spots a porpoise who is seated in a chair, smartly attired in top-hat and tie. The boy is astonished as this particular porpoise is not only a different color than the other porpoises, but he's able to speak as well! The porpoise charms and amazes the young lad with his mysterious and magical "P" wand which enables him to produce anything he wants; provided the word starts with the letter "P". The porpoise takes the lad to a palace he created previously, and the boy discovers the porpoise had created a dangerous and tyrannical little king who wants to "conquer the earth and rob all of us bare. . .". The proud porpoise is unwilling to admit his real problem: he can't think of a word to erase this evil king and his empire and is secretly hoping for some help from the little boy. The king catches them and has them chained to a dungeon wall and prepares to make a stew out of them. After being so humbled, the porpoise comes up with a brilliant plan which enables the young boy to emerge as hero, and “preserver of the planet”. The story ends with the boy reflecting on the porpoise and his presumed intellectual superiority. He contrasts the pospoise’s values with his own and realizes it took only a humble and trusting little boy to save the day (and ultimately, the planet).
